Bring science, technology, engineering, and math time into your springtime learning stations. I keep the materials for each station in closed Tupperware containers to not distract the children during other parts of our learning day.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During center time, The children choose what center to start at and I rotate between stations observing and assisting. If there is a different adult in the room, I will often as them to assist with the messiest or most complicated station.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some children may opt to build egg sculptures every day (and that&#8217;s ok!)&nbsp; I encourage children to try every station, but do not make it mandatory. Some teachers require children to try each learning station once before doing one a second time.&nbsp;No matter what you choose, stay consistent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Routines help young children know what to expect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Spring STEM vocabulary (in preschooler terms)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><u>Absorb <\/u>&#8211; to soak up<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><u>Weight <\/u>&#8211; how heavy or light an object is<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><u>Compare <\/u>&#8211; to look closer at two or more objects to see what is the same or different<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><u>Ruler <\/u>&#8211; a tool for measuring how long or short something is.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><u>Scale <\/u>&#8211; a tool for measuring how heavy or light something is.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><u>Sphere <\/u>&#8211; a 3 dimensional circle shape, a ball<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>STEM activities are designed to be hands on explorations with open ended endings. This will help<br>stabilize the egg and make it roll easier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>2.<\/strong> Child 1<br>makes sure the timer is clear and reads O. Child 2 prepares to spin.<br>The child with the timer counts down from 3.&nbsp; 3, 2, 1, SPIN.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>3.<\/strong>&nbsp; Child 1 starts the timer.&nbsp;Child 2 spins the egg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>4.<\/strong> When the egg stops, child 2 says stop.&nbsp;Child one stops the timer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>5.<\/strong> Children look at the number and write it on the data recording sheet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>6.<\/strong> They then switch roles.
