{"id":1127,"date":"2012-08-26T10:42:00","date_gmt":"2012-08-26T14:42:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/theeducatorsspinonit.com\/2012\/08\/back-to-school-week-what-questions-should-you-ask-your-child.html"},"modified":"2025-04-15T12:18:07","modified_gmt":"2025-04-15T16:18:07","slug":"back-to-school-week-at-after-school","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theeducatorsspinonit.com\/back-to-school-week-at-after-school\/","title":{"rendered":"Back to School Week &#8211; What Questions Should You Ask Your Child"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/theeducatorsspinonit.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/BAcktoSchoolWeek-1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/theeducatorsspinonit.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/BAcktoSchoolWeek.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Questions for First Week of School <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Amanda and I both sent our daughters back to school this week!\u00a0 The girls just turned 6 this past month and are off to First Grade!\u00a0As they\u00a0started back to school we\u00a0both realized how much we want to know what&#8217;s going on in their classrooms.\u00a0I know we&#8217;re probably not the only parents who are thinking&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>What are they\u00a0learning about?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What types of stories are they reading?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What level of books do they have access to?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How difficult\u00a0are the math problems?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Were they given enough time to write creatively?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Are they discovering something new in science?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Did they play on the playground every day?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Did they get to be creative in art and music?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Did they eat all their lunch?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>And that question we all turn to as a parent&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Are they making any friends? (Here&#8217;s some tips for <a href=\"https:\/\/theeducatorsspinonit.com\/teaching-kids-how-to-make-friends\/\" title=\"\">How to make friends<\/a>)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/theeducatorsspinonit.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/FirstGradeFunafterschool-1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/theeducatorsspinonit.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/FirstGradeFunafterschool.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>We&#8217;re crossing our fingers and hoping that they both are amazing teachers\u00a0who communicate well with parents and students and\u00a0have a love of teaching.\u00a0However there are some things we plan to do each week at home to ensure they are reaching their fullest potential this year.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/plus.google.com\/u\/0\/communities\/101206286957849569939\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/theeducatorsspinonit.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/AfterschoolEnrichmentfromTheEducatorsSpinOnIt.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>As we begin this school year we hope to share with you how\u00a0our weeks are going each week with After School Express on Sundays.\u00a0We take what our children are learning in the classroom and work on\u00a0bringing it to life at home.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We know that schools at times aren&#8217;t able to provide all the learning opportunities a child needs so we are building up resources so that we can provide enrichment for our children in our home and community.
