Each parent connects with their unborn child in a different way. Need some ideas? Here are some things that I do!

1. Sending my little one love.

At least once during the day, I stare at my ever growing belly and put my hands on it, close my eyes, and think about sending all the love I can to my baby. This moment takes just a few seconds, but I really think that it has helped me to connect with him.

If you have older siblings, like mine does, they could do this too! Kids may need to verbalize something as well. They could put their hand on your tummy and say something like, “I am sending you all the love in the world baby brother.”

2. Take a walk with your baby at the same time every day.

This may sound silly, but in addition to helping with staying healthy and fit, routines are necessary for my sanity. If I set aside time in the day to do this, I am a much happier, calmer, more connected person. I listen to the birds and enjoy the sunshine as I walk with my baby and think of showing him all these wonderful things when we welcome him to the world.

3. Make time at least once every day to give your tummy a little massage.

Add some lotion or oil and invite your partner to join in. Not only does it feel nice for you, but I like to hope that it feels nice for baby, too! With our first 2 blessings, we have done many infant massages and realized the benefits of these. There is no reason you can’t start while they are hanging out in utero!

4. Channel your creativity for your baby.

We all have our special talents and skills, but taking the time to MAKE something (not just buy it) for your child has always helped me feel even more connected to them. You may knit some baby booties, cover a wipes cover, or assemble a hair bow for your baby.
